Podcasts I’ve Been Listening To Lately

September 25, 2018

Hi cuties, welcome back to the Allison in Wonderland blog!  Last week, I asked you on Instagram what post you wanted to see this week and you voted for me to share the podcasts that I’ve been listening to (and loving!) lately so here it is!  I’ve been super into podcasts for the past few months and I’m so excited to share my favorites… let’s get into it!

The first podcast I’ve been absolutely obsessed with is called What We Said.  What We Said is a relatively new podcast featuring Jaci Marie Smith and Chelsea Curtis and they talk about all kinds of various topics.  They put up new episodes every Tuesday and I always listen to it as soon as I can.  The What We Said episodes are about an hour long so it’s great to listen to on your drive to work or at the gym!  When I listen to it, I feel like I’m chatting with some of my best friends!

The next podcast I’ve been loving is called The Goal Digger Podcast.  The Goal Digger Podcast features an incredible woman named Jenna Kutcher and she gives the best advice on social media marketing, branding, and building a better you!  I first found out about this podcast because I came across Jenna’s Instagram profile.  She exudes the most positive energy and has such a love for others – it’s amazing!  I highly recommend this one.

Another podcast that I’ve been listening to non-stop is called The Porch.  The Porch is a young adult and singles Christian ministry in Dallas and they started publishing their sermons on the podcast app a couple years ago.  With my busy schedule, it’s nice to be able to listen to sermons when I’m driving or getting ready in the morning.  It’s something I look forward to hearing every week!

That’s all the podcasts I’m going to be sharing today.  Do you listen to podcasts?  Let me know in the comments below.  Have a great week and I’ll see you next Tuesday!

Things I'm Loving Right Now

22 Years

September 18, 2018

Hey hey hey cuties, welcome back to my blog!  When my birthday rolls around each year, I used to do a blog post showing what I got for my birthday but for the past couple years, I’ve been doing more of a gratitude post so that’s what I’m going to share with you in this post.  Today, I chose to write about a few things, big and small, that I value and am grateful for on a day-to-day basis.  Let’s get started!

  1. Sunshine.  Over the past few years, I’ve really noticed how much energy – specifically creative energy – I get from natural light.  The sun doesn’t have to be brilliantly shining outside but if I can at least see the sun poking out from the clouds enough for the light to fill up my apartment, I’m a happy camper!
  2. Sleep.  Recently, I’ve really noticed how much I value sleep.  I don’t need to get a crazy amount of sleep to be satisfied but sleeping really effects my mood and how I feel physically.  In college, there were many times where I had to either choose sleep or studying and most of the time, I chose sleep because, without sleep, the next day would be a total wash.  Is anyone else like this?  I envy you if you can function with one hour of sleep!
  3. A tidy home.  Living in a clean and tidy apartment/house is something I’ve always needed.  No matter what I have to get done in my day, I always clean first because it allows me to clear my head.  Once I have everything cleaned up and in it’s place, I can fully focus on everything else I have to do.

If you’d like to check out my previous birthday blog posts, click here for last year’s and click here for the year before that.  Please leave a comment below sharing something you’re grateful for – whether it be something big or small!  Thanks for reading and, as always, I’ll see you back here next Tuesday for another brand new post.  Have a great week!

How To

How To: Be a Morning Person

September 11, 2018

Hi everyone, happy Tuesday!  Today’s post is going to be all about how to become a morning person.  In the summer, it’s really easy for me to get up early because the sun it out.  But now that we’re moving into fall and it’s harder to wake up because the sun is rising later in the day, I have some tips and tricks to get you out of bed earlier.  Let’s get started!

The first thing I would recommend is going to sleep earlier.  I always feel better when I’ve had a full eight hours or so of sleep and when you go to sleep earlier, you can get your eight hours in without sleeping half the day away.  Once you’ve adjusted your sleeping schedule, it will feel more and more normal to be getting up earlier!

My next tip is to find your morning routine.  Whether it’s taking your coffee and sitting on the porch or going for a run, having a set schedule is always nice!  I find that I’m most productive in the morning, so getting things like cleaning and organizing taken care of first thing allows me to have a more relaxed evening.

My last tip is to allow light to come in your windows.  Don’t block it with blinds or curtains!  Even though the sun is starting to rise later, once it does start coming up, it will help you wake up naturally.  If you have a house or apartment that has a few different rooms, choose the room that has the most morning light to be your bedroom.  Personally, I know I’d much rather wake up from the sunlight than from an alarm.

That’s all for this week’s post, I hope you enjoyed!  Who else is excited for Fall?  It’s my favorite season!  See ya next week!

End-of-Summer OOTD

September 4, 2018

Hi babes, welcome back to the Allison in Wonderland blog!  Can you believe it’s already September?  I know I can’t.  Luckily, it’s still pretty warm outside on the east coast but I know our warmer days are numbered so I wanted to get this end-of-summer OOTD posted for you guys before it’s too late.  Scroll down to see one of my favorite outfits for this time of the year!

Starting off with my orange, two-piece set, it’s from Luca and Grae (click here)!  It’s the first purchase I’ve ever made from the online boutique and I was so impressed.  The order shipped out the same day I placed it and it arrived in only a few days even though it was shipping all the way across the country!  The set fits perfectly and I couldn’t be happier with it.  The top is so fun and flattering and the pants are adjustable so you have some leniency if you aren’t quite sure what your size will be.  I’ve also been able to wear these pants to work!  I just pair them with a tucked in, long-sleeve white tee and a pair of slides and it’s perfectly work-appropriate.  So nice!

I also paired one of my absolute favorite necklaces from Amanda Deer Jewelry (click here) with the outfit and it totally brought it all together!  I’ve never really been one to wear choker necklaces but this one caught my eye.  I love wearing gold jewelry and I felt like this outfit called for something more trendy so this necklace totally fit the bill.  It’s adjustable in length (so you won’t feel like you’re actually choking) and it’s a perfect complement to a statement outfit like this one!

Moving on to my bag, it’s from Urban Outfitters (click here)!  It’s one of the cutest bags I’ve ever owned but I will say, it doesn’t hold a lot.  I personally have some larger items I have to carry with me all the time, like my Epi-Pen and Benadryl, and those take up a lot of room but if you’re only taking your wallet and phone with you, it would be perfect!

That’s all for this OOTD.  Would you like to see an OOTD for Fall as we move into the cooler months?  Let me know in the comments below.  Have a great week and I’ll see you next Tuesday!
